A Lie That Changed The World

During the 2000 Republican presidential primary, Senator John McCain was the target of a whisper campaign implying that he had fathered a black child out of wedlock. (McCain's adopted daughter is a dark-skinned child from Bangladesh). Voters in South Carolina were reportedly asked, "Would you be more likely or less likely to vote for John McCain if you knew that he fathered an illegitimate black child?". McCain would later lose the South Carolina primary, and the nomination, to George W. Bush.
In addition, on the week of the nomination vote, dozens of radio stations were called on the same day asking talk show hosts what they thought of McCain's fathering of a black child out of wedlock. McCain later said of the incidents.

"There were some pretty vile and hurtful things said during the South Carolina primary. It's a really nasty side of politics. We tried to ignore it and I think we shielded [our daughter] from it. It's just unfortunate that that sort of thing still exists. As you know she's Bengali, and very dark skinned. A lot of phone calls were made by people who said we should be very ashamed about her, about the color of her skin. Thousands and thousands of calls from people to voters saying, 'You know, the McCains have a black baby.' I believe that there is a special place in hell for people like those." -Senator John McCain-

Here is how this lie changed the world.
Say what you like about John McCain but one thing he is not is a chicken hawk. George Bush and his crew were all chicken hawks.
Say what you want about John McCain but he would have listened to the CIA and FBI and 911 would probably not have happened. The cascade to disasters that preceded 911 are as follows:
1. We were lied into a war.. a war that was ill conceived and unfunded. It was a war inwuch we attacked and invaded the wrong country. It was a war that further destabilized the Middle East. It was a war that brought Sharia law to Iraq.
2. John McCain is working with Elizabeth Warren to reinstate Glass Steagal. In the broadest sense Glass Steagal was a law passed in the 1930's to prevent another depression because it prevented banker from gambling with depositor's money. We probably would not have had the Wall Street scandal had George W Bush had not been president.
3. McCain would not have pushed Medicare Part D which was giveaway to the drug companies.
4. The recession did not just fall out of the sky.  Bush's borrow and spend along and tax cuts for the criminal rich during two of the longest wars in history along with the criminal activity of his Wall Street bankster buddies caused the great recession.
All this happened because of a lie and Republican voter fraud and voter suppression on Florida and Ohio.
My crystal ball tells he if we had had either McCain or Al Gore as our president in 2000 we woulod still have the prosperity of the Clinton years.
